UGM and WOB National WOrkshop series on INFLUENCE A MAJOR SUCCESS

The recent national "Wired for Influence" series on personal influence in the workplace sold out in all locations and a second workshop was organised to accommodate demand in Sydney. Hosted in association with Women On Boards, the influencing workshop covered the topics listed below.

  • Understand how your brain is wired for influence – from the latest neuroscience research.
  • Differentiate between influencing and manipulating, so that you can influence with confidence and without ethical/moral concerns.
  • Identify key sources of personal influence that you'll harness for success.
  • Learn how to exercise influence even when you don't have the formal authority.
  • Learn how to get a speaking turn in meetings.
  • Apply a simple formula to make your cases compelling and persuasive.
  • Develop powerful strategies that will position you to confidently counter 'blockers'.
  • Use all of the above to elevate your 'visibility' and 'presence'.

Delegates were motivated by the practical orientation of the program and also the solid evidence-based approach used by presenters, Dr Grant Robertson and Dr Margaret Byrne.

"An extremely insightful & practical course reinforced by evidence. A good mix of concepts for further reflection & quick and useful tips (i.e. getting your turn to talk in meetings)." Francisca Pena, CFO AI-Media

"Very worthwhile for employees wishing to move up the ladder & understanding what drives men and women and their approaches." Gabrielle Morrish, MD, GMU

"Excellent. I would highly recommend it - and not just to women." Angelique Nesbitt, Group Corporate Counsel, Transfield Services Ltd

"A great insight into influencing using tried and tested techniques. Also a fabulous way to meet and network with other women facing similiar issues." Kate White, Exec Manager, Retail Credit Risk, CBA

Dates for the next round of "Wired For Influence" workshops will be announced early in 2012.
